69th Annual Francis J. Robinson International Memorial Tournament
July 28 – August 2, 2026
The Robinson is named after a local tennis player, Lt. Francis J. Robinson, a young serviceman who died in a military flight training mission in July 1958. A group of Lt. Robinson’s friends started a small tennis tournament in his honor that same summer. The “Robinson” has drawn between 200-400 participants annually, with players 10 & under to 70 & over and is considered one of the longest running community tennis tournaments in the United States. The Robinson unites players from our local tennis community, surrounding Michigan cities, other states and Canada to come together for a fun-filled week of tennis each summer.

Registration & Format
Entry includes up to 3 events (one Singles, one Doubles, and one Mixed Doubles), free Warm-Up Clinics (registration required), a t-shirt, and complimentary offerings throughout the week. See each ⊕ and scroll ⇑⇓ for more details!
June 8 – Registration Opens $50/Player
July 10-15 – Entry Fee increases to $60
July 15 – Registration Closes at 11:59pm
Format
- Single Elimination Draw
- Juniors – Age & Ball Level (Red/Orange/Green/Yellow). Junior Brackets with low number of entries may play a Round Robin.
- Juniors – first round consolation matches will be played; weather & time permitting, a consolation draw will be played.
- Adults – USTA/NTRP Rating divisions with 18&Over, 40&Over, 55&Over age brackets
- Adults – weather & time permitting, a first round consolation match will be played
- Rating divisions/age brackets may be combined depending on draw sizes
- Divisions – Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles
- Balls – The tournament will provide balls

Warm-Up Clinics
You must sign up in advance for the free clinics! Participation numbers allow for planning adequate coaches & courts.
2. TEXT/EMAIL UPDATES! Text alerts will be sent during Robinson week regarding urgent inclement weather concerns & updates. Include a cell phone number in your TopDog account profile. Email updates will be used for other communications.
3. T-SHIRT/UPDATE YOUR TOPDOG ACCOUNT! Update all details of your TopDog Sports player profile, especially your T-Shirt size! If there is no T-Shirt size included, you will not receive one. Players who enter on/after July 10 are not guaranteed a T-shirt.

SPECIAL AWARDS
Francis J. Robinson Sportsmanship Award – The most coveted of the tournament, the Robinson Award is given to the player who demonstrates sportsmanship throughout Robinson week and beyond. This athlete has a love and passion for the game, contributes to our sport through honest and fair competition, and is respected by other players.
Mike Clary Junior Tennis Award – This award is in memory of Mike Clary, an outstanding player and instructor at the Tennis House who passed away in 1991. Mike was a top junior and adult competitor who enjoyed working with the kids in the junior program. This award is given to a junior player who works hard on their game and shows great dedication to tennis.
Myron Lee Spirit Award – The Robinson Committee first presented this award in 2021 to honor Myron Lee. Myron was a kind, helpful, positive person who shared his love for tennis with family & friends. Myron’s quiet yet genuine enthusiasm for practice and competition was contagious. The Spirit Award award is given to a player who embodies good spirit both on and off the court, inspires others through their passion for tennis, and encourages participation in all aspects of our tennis community.
