Flight Captain’s Responsibilities
- Keep matches moving (5-10 minute warm-up).
- Record Round-Robin results in flight book and report to
Tournament Director. - Remind all participants their cooperation is needed in
completing matches in allotted time. - All players/teams must play all members in the flight.
- Flight participants may NOT independently re-schedule
match times. - If you have questions, please contact Tournament
Director, Jason Go, at jgo247@yahoo.com or
(312) 662-3659.
Round-Robin Scoring
- NO-AD Pro-Sets — Each Flight will be assigned to play
6-game, 8-game or 10-game No-Ad Pro-Sets. All
players/teams in the Flight must play each other to
complete the round-robin. - Game Scoring — The first player/team winning 4 points
wins the game. In Singles and Doubles when a game is
tied 3-3, the receiver chooses which side to receive
(Deuce or Ad). In Mixed Doubles, men/boys serve to each
other and women/girls serve to each other when a game
is tied 3-3. - 7-Point Tiebreak — A 7-point set tiebreak will be played
at 5-5 for a 6-game pro-set, 7-7 for an 8-game pro-set, or
9-9 for a 10-game pro-set — using the Coman format
(see Page 4 ).
The 7-Point Set Tiebreak is first to 7 points, win by 2.
• The player whose turn it is to serve will serve one
point, starting from the Deuce side.
• Thereafter, each player/team serves in rotation for
2 points (Ad side, then Deuce side).
• Change ends of the court after the first point, then
after every 4 points. - Advancing to the Finals — The top 2 players/teams
based on win/loss record from each flight advance to the
Finals (or the top player/team from a split flight – a large
flight that was split into two groups). - Tie in Standings — In the case of a tie in standings, the
players/teams advancing to the Finals will be decided, in
order, by:
(1) head-to-head results
(2) games won
(3) fewest games lost.
If still tied, a random drawing will be used.
Finals Scoring
- Scoring — Finals are 2 out of 3 sets, Ad scoring, with a 10-point
super-tiebreak for the third set (first to 10, win by 2) . - Set Tiebreaks — Set Tiebreaks will be first to 7, win by 2.
The 7-Point Set Tiebreak is first to 7 points, win by 2.
• The player whose turn it is to serve will serve one point,
starting from the Deuce side.
• Thereafter, each player/team serves in rotation for 2
points (Ad side, then Deuce side).
• Change ends of the court after the first point, then after
every 4 points. - Coman Tiebreak — All Finals tiebreaks will use Coman format.
• The player/team who would serve next in the rotation
will serve first. The first server begins from the deuce
court and serves one point.
• Thereafter, each player/team serves in rotation for 2
points (Ad side then Deuce side), until the winner has
been decided.
• Players/teams change ends after the first point, then
after every four points.
• If the first set ended in a tiebreak, then the player/team
that received first in the tiebreak will serve first in the
second set.
• The 3rd Set (10-point super-tiebreak) is treated like a
new set, therefore either player on a doubles or mixed
doubles team may serve first. - Finals Scores — Both players/teams please report scores to
the Tournament Desk upon completion of each match.
