Midwest Sectional Champions – Women 8.5 Combo! March 9, 2014
Congratulations to our Women’s 8.5 Combo Midwest Champions! The team finished the weekend with 3 wins and one loss. Illinois took second place followed by Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ohio. The final standings were down to the wire Sunday. Our Michigan Champs needed to win their match versus Ohio, and Wisconsin needed to take one of three courts versus Illinois. After the intense competition came to an end, our team defeated Ohio 2-1, and Illinois beat Wisconsin 2-1 confirming our women would bring home the title by one individual win. Congratulations, ladies, on your AMAZING season and bringing home the Championship crown! Combo league does not have a National playoff.
The team became Michigan State Champs in Okemos on Saturday, January 25, 2014. Our SEMTA District Champs faced off against the Western Michigan District Champs from Holland sweeping all three courts, earning their trip to Sectionals in Fort Wayne, IN on March 7-9.
District playoffs were held at Lifetime Fitness in Rochester Hills on January 11, 2014. The team defeated both their opponents (Bloomfield Open Hunt Club/Bloomfield Hills and Franklin Athletic Club/Southfield) by a score of 2-1 and advance to the State Championship in Okemos.
