Port Huron Schools accolades

Congratulations to Julie Rock, for being awarded Educator of the Year by Port Huron Schools! Julie teaches 5th Grade at Keewahdin Elementary and was chosen among 3 finalists who received nominations from district employees and community members over the past several weeks.

And kudos to to Aishah Ahmed, a junior at PHN, captured the 3rd Place Award ($1,000) in Earth and Environmental Sciences at the International Science and Engineering Fair competition in Pittsburgh. The title of her project was the “Physiological and Behavioral Impacts of a Neonicotinoid Insecticide and Its Transformation Product on a Non-Target Keystone Species.” In addition, Aishah received honorable mention at the ISWEEEP Science Olympiad in Houston.

Congratulations also go out to Ilina Krishen, senior at PHN. Her abstract entitled “Early Detection of Lung Disease in Firefighters: A Sound Frequency Analysis,” has been accepted for presentation at the Amsterdam ERS (European Respiratory Society) 2015 International Congress Programme, September 26 – 30, 2015.
